Crop tops are the summer equivalents of jumpers in my book. If winters are all about oversized and cosy jumpers that cover your till your fingertips then summers have their inverted version of these. Crop tops in my book are all about showing off some skin, albeit in a demure way (hello! living in India here people!!) and maybe flaunting that summer ready body, and most definitely about staying cool in the crazy weather.








Yet another trend I'm completely crushing over, is mixing prints. So out come all those cool summer trousers and their quirky prints. And while I own exactly 'one' crop top, a little intelligent tucking and folding is always useful if you want to rock this trend without investing anything in it. This striped crop top is actually a long shirt that I've just folded and fitted with the inner. Hello crop top! I couldn't resist wearing it with my butterfly print trousers. I had doubts when I bought these last year, but they've justified their cost several times over. If you're in the market for prints, I highly recommend investing in a pair of printed trousers. I currently have my eye set on these Polka printed ones from koovs. (*Quickly calculates how I can budget them into my monthly expenses....no cabs for a month maybe?*)

I see you wearing those pretty crop tops. I see you wearing your printed trousers and flaunting your Malono Blahniks and I rage. I see all those pretty young girls with their designer handbags, bad mouthing the lives that 'common' people lead, and I rage. I'm not a rich girl. I do all my shopping on the streets and I'm proud of it. I may not be able to afford half the things that you do, but I still have a better outlet for my rage. You may spend your time talking about all those glitzy soirees and fancy people with cardboard lives but I spend my time indulging my rage. I rage, but in a different way.
I vent my rage when I let that kid from the trains who spends his day selling knick-knacks play a couple of games on my cellphone. He smiles and tries to offer me a prayer card from the church he attends. I decline, " You keep it." He smiles back and says, 'Nahi?' (No) and I nod. He says that he has to get down now, flashes another smile, and leaves. I'm sitting there a little happy,a little dumbstruck and a lady next to me asks, "Do you know that boy?" I say no, he asked if he could play and I said yes. She gives a shocked and slightly disgusted expression that clearly says, what if he had stolen your phone and run out of the train with it? I'm surprised. I never even thought about that part. Do we really have to believe the bad things about everybody first? Can we not try to be so cynical and judge people without even knowing about their lives?

I may trust easily, I may not have the same mistrust of little kids who sell things in the trains, but I can't feel guilty about it. Am I gullible? Maybe. Am I slightly out of sync with the world? Most certainly. Am I still hopeful that everybody just needs a little kindness and they'll walk the right path? Definitely. Naive as that maybe, I think kindness can change the world. All you need is a little bit of faith.

PS: I know that was slightly heavy as compared to my usual posts, but I felt the need to to vent. I rarely use my blog to express my emotions but I felt I needed to say it. Anyway, here's a few pictures from my Uni's 'Tie Day' from a couple of weeks ago.

Happy Holi everyone!! Don't know what that is? Here's a really helpful Wiki on it! Well, like every year, I celebrate Holi fairly low key with my family. I'm not a big fan of celebrating in big and loud crowds with some people who invariably can't handle their liquor and then try to paw others in the name of Holi (also, my best friend sending me pictures of torn clothes post holi aren't really all that pro-big crowds).

I always celebrate with my cousins and this year was no different. A bit of color, a LOT of water (it usually ends with the cousin hogging the water buckets!!) and endless enthusiasm in the form of a 8  year old cousin who's only aim is to color me pink n red and any other color he can lay his hands on! What I'm wearing is nothing extraordinary, but I think the pictures (weirdly cropped to remove pictures of the fam) speak for themselves!





In case you're wondering, that tshirt used to be a pale pink. I think its safe to say its now forever more a deep pink. Also, I'm currently grappling with post holi lethargy coupled with trying to finish a rather difficult implementation for Uni. I really do need to get about three hundred more hours in my day. I wish the 'Bura na mano Holi Hai' mantra extended for a week post holi, for Universities, when I can't finish the work assigned. 'Bura na mano, Holi thi'! ;)

Well, hope you liked the little peek into my holi avatar. I know a 'fashion' blogger is supposed to be all glam and perfect looking even during festivals, but hey, I think I'll leave that to the people who are more worried about the pictures than the festival. For me, it will forever be the festival of colors, family and food!
