How to Create a Minimal Work Outfit
11:14:00
Less is more and this is definitely true for a Monday morning when you're floundering to make to the 9.00 o'clock meeting that's got your boss and your boss's boss attending. (okay, maybe that's just me and in that case, spill your secrets to looking brilliant on a Monday morning girl!)
Today I'm spilling my tips on creating a minimal work look which requires very little thinking and can
1. The first tip I can give you is do not get into the hassle of picking separates. A tailored jumpsuit or a simple dress (heck, reuse that little black dress from the night before as long as it isn't too short). If you don't have to pick separates, you'll end up having very little heart burn and frantic pulling bits and then throwing them on the bed cos they don't look brilliant together.
2. A statement piece of jewellery makes this look instantly brighter. No joke. It can be a pair of simple studs, a bracelet or even a statement watch (sorry folks, my tiny noodle writs can't quite flaunt a statement dial unless it's really slim). The idea is to add a talking piece, that means a piece that can be a conversation starter.
3. Add a structured piece to make everything look more formal. It can be a blazer, or even a structured bag. There's just something about structured, sharp lines that screams professional. Trust me, you could be wearing a sack underneath but if you've got a structured blazer on, you'll still look brilliant in a meeting.
4. An interesting print adds some necessary fun element to the look. Yes, we've actually gotten dressed in about 5 seconds but let's not tell the world shall we? Since we've said that something solid is the easiest to style, add a printed piece or a pop of color with your shoes or bags. I opted to wear a pair of animal printed flats to complete my look. You can even go for a scarf or a bag. A small bit of print goes a long way.
5. Makeup makes magic happen....okay maybe just magic like adding a bit of mascara and liner will make your sleepy (or sleep deprived depending on when the weekend ended for you) eyes look good. And when in doubt, a red lipstick will never disappoint!
That's all folks! I hope you enjoyed reading my Monday morning dressing tips. We all know looking great and doing great at the office is hard at times. And this series is my humble effort to help you style yourselves without too much hassle for work.
