Its Tuesday folks!! If you've been reading the blog recently then you know that I've started a series where every Tuesday I share three ways to wear one key piece of clothing. The warm response I've received has made me consider making this a weekly piece. Since we've got summer beating down on us, I decided to style a summer staple, a white shirt dress. This shirt dress was a complete bargain for Rs. 400 and I decided to give you three summer appropriate looks using this very versatile piece. In case, you haven't yet invested in a white shirt dress, I bet this one will make you think about it!



Look 1: The Working Girl




For those ladies who need to mix in a bit of white into their summer wardrobe, I give you this look with the white shirt dress and white striped trousers. This first look is perfect for hot summer afternoons when you have to run from one meeting to another. The lipstick and the sunglasses bring in a pop of color to an otherwise monochrome outfit. Try using it as a front slit top by unbuttoning the bottom few buttons and you've got a perfect, casual workday outfit.

Look 2: The Coachella Babe






This is for all those gypsy women out there. For this look, I've paired my white shirt dress with a aztec print skirt that's worn as a top and the shirt is used as a jacket. I love the almost superman feeling this look gives me. Paired with a host of chunky jewelry and strappy gladiators, its the perfect look for waltzing into coachella or any weekend music festival with style.

Look 3: The Working Boho 



The final look is somewhere in between the above two extremes. Here I wore the white shirt dress as a dress and piled on my bohemian accessories. I'm wearing a pair of boho earrings on the shirt dress as well as my tie-up pom pom sandals. The overall look is serious yet individualistic. I added an ikat print bag to complete the look.

I love to think of white dresses as an almost blank canvas which can be painted any way you like. These pieces are versatile as well as wardrobe staples, no matter what the occasion.

I've thought about restarting this segment for along time now and there's no time better than the new year to make new beginnings...so from now on, every Thursday, there will be a street find that's fabulous in both style and price!

Today's pick?


This gold statement necklace has spikes and muted gold. It may look like a lot but pair it with a simple saree for the wedding season or go crazy and pair it with a button down shirt and blazer to add a little bling to your work wardrobe. Either way, its a definite must have this season. 

White sneakers usually remind you of your school day when you wore your sports uniforms and tried to keep white but couldn't ever seem to do it! While these may bring back fond school memories, there is no denying the fact that they are on trend right now! I've seen these all through summer and even now in stores like Zara, Forever21, Koovs and so on for an average of  INR 1500-2000 a pop.

So what's the street hack??


Wondering where to get them for half the store price? La Judi in Bandra has the best white sneakers on the street. These cost Rs. 900 and the Adidas knock offs (The Gazelle copies aren't on the streets yet I'm afraid) are a couple of hundred more. The quality is great and matches that of the high street stores!

January always bring with it, lots of parties and while we all love to dress up, everyone has those days when you simply can't be bothered with the fuss of wearing pretty dresses and wanna wear your old favorite denims and still look chic. Well, I feel the same (always) and that's how I came up with today's look.


For this look I paired my denims with a simple peplum top. I think every girl should have a nice peplum top in her wardrobe. This is one style that suits practically everyone and instantly upgrads your look. Add a jacket for those cold walks back home and a nice pair of heels and you're all set. A simple, no fuss look that can be put together in minutes. Oh, and if all else fails, you can always fall back on the classic red lip. Trust me, everything is better with red lipstick.

Quick Tips to Wear Denims to A Party:

• Easiest way to upstyle a pair of denims is to wear it with a fun top. I'd say go for a beaded or sequined top and keep the rest of it simple.
• Not a sequins girl? Wear a simple tee and then a bright jacket for a no fuss but fun look. 
• A simple solid colored tshirt, jeans and a statment necklace are all one needs for a casual party. Add a pair of heels for extra oomph. 
• Running late and don't have time for all of the above? Just wear bright lipstick and pull your hair up in a messy ponytail. 
• Finally, remember that what you wear isn't as important as what you are. If you're having fun, doesn't matter if you're wearing a pair of sweats! You'll still be the prettiest girl there! 

First of all, there have been a few issues with posting my pictures on the blog, so this week's Stripey Saturday post is a little late. I apologise. That being said, lets get on with it! Now I don't know about you guys, but somehow, when people say stripes, I always end up thinking stripes in monochrome. While this is true for most striped things that people remember, I rather think its good to feature something that add a bit of color to things! This dress is such a pretty, simple, weekend outfit that I just had to show it on the blog. I've worn it a number of times already during the start of "winter" last December and with a pair of tights as seen here, its quite cosy.

Its two days to new year and everything and everywhere I see is glitters and jitters!! Sequins in a hundred different colors adorn the shops in malls and I just can't seem to justify spending thousands on a dress that will probably be too OTT for work and won't really be off the hanger for things that qualify as casual dinners. Hence the jitters cos you really do wanna find the perfect dress! Don't wanna break the bank like me? Well, here are three places in Mumbai where you can find sparkly and sexy dresses minus the pricetag!

1. Stall No. 66 - Fashion Street
This is THE place if you want to find bling! His clothes are priced anywhere between 400 to 1200 and you will find sparkly, sequined, seriously kickass dresses if you are willing to look hard enough! My sister and I have, at one point in our lives, spent about 6K shopping in this stall alone. You'll even score full length gowns if you're lucky!!

2. Shop Next to Mcdonalds - Colaba Causeway
While this isn't exactly a street stall, it has some serious gems! However, it is not for the faint-hearted. You will have to go through literally millions of clothes before you find something you like cos it is a shop bursting with clothes! Fret not, as help is nearby in the form of assistants who are always eager to find you that perfect size in the dress you've short listed!

This lovely day dress was a buy form this shop! Kudos to the assistant for finding me the perfect size!


3. Fendi's on Hill Road and Boutiques on Waterfield Road - Bandra
Finally, if you haven't managed to score anything interesting on the streets, its time to hit the shops that are tucked away in the sleepy lanes of Bandra. While they will probably have outfits in the higher hundreds range, I'm sure its still gotta be less expensive and more unique than buying off the racks in the mall! They even have changing rooms so that you can test the perfect fit!

How were the holidays guys??? Did you all enjoy Chirstmas??! I for one managed to get work and fun done all on the same day! I'd been quite depressed with the way my work was going lately and one of my friends decided it would be cool to take me birthday present shopping (my birthday's on christmas eve, in case you were wondering). So I sneakily squeezed in some good ol' santa fun alongwith serious labtime. What did I do and wear? I believe I shall let the pictures do the talking....

Hey Everyone! How's your week been so far? I can't believe its the weekend already. I feel like I haven't had a weekend at all (thank you Uni!) and I'm still in a big blob of the never-ending week from hell. Oh well, I did do a spot of shopping to alleviate the no weekend pains so that's a good thing right?








Last Sunday, I decided to splurge a little and took my mom for a bit of shopping. It was really tiring but we managed to get some seriously cool stuff for mom. If you're ever on the lookout for good quality, sensible, Indian wear I suggest going to Malad in a shop called Albeli (You can mail me for details and a referral). You won't be disappointed! Since it was my day off, I decided it was best to forgo the pants and wear a no fuss maxi dress. In my world, maxi dresses are one of the best inventions by man. And the longer they are, the better they look. They eliminate the need to figure out proper separates that work, and still look like you've made an effort. I did get dressed while watching a rerun of The Big Bang Theory, so I guess its safe to say I was a tad distracted.

Now that spring is here, I  envision lots of maxi dresses and jumpsuits on the weekends. I can't seem to muster the time or the energy to pull out "two" pieces of clothing. What will you be wearing for spring?

Its finally Thursday!! For today's thrifty Thursday post, I give you, A simple shift dress in a solid color.


This is a great bargain piece that can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. For Work, wear it with a smart blazer and block heels. Party, amp it up with loud accessories. On the Weekend, add clashing stacks of bangles and bang on a funky headband. This one is definitely an investment!!

I love birthdays! They're that time of the year when you celebrate a person for no reason other than existing. Last Sunday was my favorite uncle's birthday and I was super excited to go celebrate with him! I decided to dress according to my mood and this meant the bright clothes came out with a vengeance. I bought these palazzos on my birthday and this is the first time I've worn them. They're a little too big for me around the waist but I simply couldn't wait till I got them fixed. Enter stage right, pretty scarf as a belt coming to my rescue!









I love how cool the blue and the yellow look together. This belt is actually a scarf wrapped around twice and tucked in to make it snug and ensure that my pants don't slip of my non-existent waist! I kept the rest of the look fairly simple by adding a white blouse and messy hair. Okay, so maybe the hair was more due to being late than style but nobody needs to know that!
