Hello world!! It's been a while since my last post and maybe you didn't even realise I was gone but I've been having a bit of a hard time lately. For a number of reasons ranging from health to simply feeling lost, I've been away and now I finally feel like its time to get back to talking to you all.

Since it's technically winter, I thought I'd share some tips on layering. Now living in a tropical city means the winters aren't all that wintery. In fact, the weather feels more like an alphabet soup of all weather synonyms packed together in one big bowl. However, that just means we have that many opportunities to get creative with our outfits.


Today's look is something I shot sometime in December but never posted. However, this look is still relevant even with the current weather and it's almost boomerang switches. A classic look for work is Monochrome.

• Look for structure and clean lines. This means not wearing all those kurtas with too many layers of chiffon or ruffles. I've found that cotton clothes instantly lend a much more formal look. 
• Ironed! This is something I'm guilty of skipping at times too. However, if you want to wear Indian outfits to work, you need to iron them. There are so many outfits that are perfect for work, if only they were perfectly ironed. Seriosly, don't skip this step when it comes to workwear. 
• Monochrome outfits work best to make you look put together. Just like the outfit above, the easiest way to make Indianwear look office friendly is to keep the look monotoned. A monochrome outfit not only works well for office, it also makes you look much taller!
• Keep the print mixing to a miminal. Too many prints may make you look frumpy especially when it comes to Indian outfits. Since these have multiple separates, look for solid colors with prints used as accents for a more complete look. 
• Finally, make sure you look for comfortable silhouettes! The simplest way is to pick your favorite Indian piece and build your wardrobe from there! Remember, if you feel good you'll look good instantly! 

Autumn. That time when everything turns golden and make you realise that summer is gone and its time to pull out all your cosy knits. While autumn heralds the start of winter, I don't think anyone's quite yet ready to say goodbye to their summer dresses. This made me think that its time to come up with an outfit that can help you style your summer dresses in a chic way without freezing in the chilly mornings.







This look is something that's completely me. The pinafore dress was a gift from my sister who absolutely gets my fashion sense. I added tights and a warm white tshirt to keep myself cosy in Munnar during my trip there (read more about it here). Layering is key when it comes to transition wardrobes. Look at your classic key pieces to give you warmth as well as double up as transitional pieces that can work through the year. Wear your tshirts under your dresses to keep warm and add interest to the outfit with accessories. I added a bit of color with my choker as well as the bag. Yes, I don't think I'm capable of doing a look without adding a pop of color somewhere. This look is perfect to transition into fall and works well even through winter. Just add a warm coat on top and you'll be ready to battle those cold evenings.

By now everyone and their mothers have a variation of these geek glasses. While I'm always on a hunt for bigger glasses, the last few weeks have made good glasses a necessity. So when my brother offered to give me anything for Raksha Bandhan(yay!! cue bed jumping joy!), I jumped on the chance to get a new pair of peepers! First off, THANKS a million bro!! They've made long hours in the lab much more bearable (read now changed to various states of sleep deprived, minus the creepy red eyes).








The other new bit is the twirly skirt. When I laid hands on my Jabong shopping goodies (read my shopping review here) one look at this skirt and I knew it was going to be a geek chic outfit. I feel this look could be excellent for a casual date lunch(also where I casually show off how nerdy I truly am!). I added a bit of color to the outfit with my new blingy blue bag that was gifted by my cousin when she came down to India. The skirt is a perfect blend of flirty and feminine and can be worn in many different ways. Overall, a very versatile piece to have in your closet.

Monochrome is and always has been my fallback when I'm searching for inspiration. When I came across these crazy printed pants on one of my Hill Road shopping sprees, I decided I had to have them. If only to feel my monochrome madness. I mean, isn't it the easiest thing to style a funky print and look really dressed up, even if you aren't. (Nobody needs to know I woke up an hour late in the morning. They're gonna be too busy admiring the trousers!)







This look is quite similar to the one I wore here. Granted. However, sometimes, its good to visit old outfits and this was one of those times. I like that the buttoned up shirt lets me wear a statement necklace without giving me a summer rash. (Everybody gets that in the summers yes?). In other news, last week I got a string of deliveries that I'll be sharing with you guys soon.

Its all about the trainers!! I have so much love for these new ones from Asos that they've been on my feet practically since I snipped open the parcel! They are super comfortable, and the matress/quilted effect just gives that that little bit of edge.

On to the outfit post, I wore this today to Uni coz I wanted a laid back look that didn't skimp out on style but managed to keep me cozy in this brief winter stint that seems to have started in the country. Overall, I got a few compliments for it and it felt so warm!










I feel that the contrast of the printed trousers with the printed scarf gives the look a little bit of an edge. While I'd worn my spiked necklace during the day, when I came back home to take pictures, I couldn't resist adding my new necklace to the outfit. I mean, its fate isn't it? This new beauty is my first ever 'Thrifty Thursday' item! Yay!! I can see it with a few other outfits already, so cost per wear makes it practically free right?

Today' post is basically an ode to how much love I have for my new sunglasses. I've never really been a big fan of wayfarers. I always thought they made my face disappear but when I tried these folding ones from Ray-Ban, I KNEW I had found my match. I've been wearing them every single day since I got them, and can I say, I love them! Its an epic love affair.

I wore this to Uni today, and I got lots of compliments for how pretty the top was. Its old, gift from my cousin, and its got butterflies. However, I keep the look minimal since I wanted to have my wayfarers in focus!







I think its the hinges that make these fit just that slight bit more snug on my pea-sized face than the normal wayfarers. I had borrowed my friend's normal wayfarers once, and they just tipped forward and slid right of my face everytime I looked down. Apart from fabulous looks, these also block out a lot of light and have UV protection which means they actually do the work they're supposed to (aka, protecting my peepers) , unlike some sunglasses that simply look good but are quite worthless in their actual purpose. In my opinion, these are definite must-have for everyone! Oh, and since they're such a classic design they'll never go out of style!

Finally, let me tell you how brilliant they are in fitting into tiny spaces. Imagine a tiny clutch taken to brunch, well, these will fit quite nicely in that clutch, come with a small pouch for just that purpose, and also leave some space for all your other bits and bobs in the clutch (read phone, gloss, tissues, money). I can just see myself looking cooler than all those other ladies at brunch who have their glasses on their heads (secretly thinking they look cool but the fact is t they probably don't have anywhere else to keep it already). If you don't have them already, get them! They're a complete investment and will make your life that much cooler!

First off, I'm really sorry for taking so long to put up a new post. My internet connection seems to be determined to stop me from posting here.

The holiday season is over. This means that we now have to deal with the after effects of over-eating diwali sweets, happy days spent hanging out with the family and evenings spent bursting crackers with the kids. Mostly, in my case, these after effects are a high level of lethargy which means I'm looking for no effort dressing. These are the clothes that fall into the 'I'll do all the work for you, ma'am' clothes! Yes, even fashion bloggers (well, me atleast) do that!








This vintage little dress given to me by my aunt fits the bill perfectly. Its numerous layers of frills are perfect for hiding all the holiday weight while making me feel like a pretty cake decoration. Its good to feel like that sometimes no?
