Its the new year! How has your first day of 2014 been? Mine has been quite good. I did all the usual things, but somehow, the day seemed brighter. Suddenly I feel like there are endless possibilities in the future. I've made a couple of resolutions. But I shan't be sharing them because I have this belief that if I do, I'll never follow through. Do you feel that way too?

So today's outfit is actually my NYE outfit. I thought it was the perfect outfit to start the new year with, who doesn't need a bit of happy and shiny right?










I never plan my new years. They usually have lots of family, food and some more food involved. I'm not a big fan of loud parties where most of the people are half drunk by the time we reach the countdown and usually falling all over the place in their excitement. Give me a quite evening with good food and good company any day. However, this doesn't mean I didn't dress up. We decided to dress up and since it was a little chilly when we went out to see the fireworks, I decided to add a pair of bright tights to my dress. Overall, I love how kitschy this look turned out.

Weekends in my book equal relaxed. This applies to my dressing aswell. While I love fitted clothes for work during the week, I can't stand anything that's too tight over the weekend. However, relaxed doesn't have to mean slouchy. Just as slouchy doesn't always mean unfashionable.









These trousers were an impulse buy. They have a soft cotton blend that's like a big hug. The pretty digital print makes them stand out. The neon tee is a wardrobe staple that you've seen before here, here and here. I added a waterfall shrug for a little warmth (the temperature seemed to dip ever so slightly today). Overall, loving how 60s-ish this looks.

If you've met me in the last few weeks, I've probably complained about the heat to you...quite a bit....like every 5 seconds. Maybe its just me, but it seems that every time I have a second to relax, I can't even breath because the heat is killing me softly. (Can that happen? Sure feels like it!)









I absolutely love these Asos shorts! They're cotton, perfect fit (although my recent weight loss means I can't wear them without a belt anymore) and a real life saver on hot summer days. I added this bright blue jacket that my mum made when she was learning how to sew. (umm....when she was about 10-12 years old!) Overall, lovely little outfit that I wore when me and mum went to get a few groceries.

Its Navratri again!! I can't believe its come back so soon! Time does seem to fly doesn't it? Last year, I celebrated the nine day festival with traditional Indian clothes (read sarees and punjabi dresses) as I was a 'professional' and working. This year, I'm a student again, which means I have the freedom to dress in quirky styles without worrying about working girl outfit rules! Yay!!

The color for the first day was Grey. While I own a lot of grey clothes, I felt it was a bit dull for the first day of a beautifully colorful festival. So I styled my grey skirt with my gorgeous neon top to give it that little pop of color and excitement!

I have the most amazing friends! One of my dearest friends bought me a peplum dress recently as a present, and I've been dying to wear it! Sadly, being the skinny, disproportionate girl that I am (not that I'm complaining) I need to get it altered. But since I couldn't wait, I decided to be a bit clever and add a lace tee to it to cover the ill-fitting bits. I have to say I'm extremely pleased with the overall look. Honestly, I had to force myself to slip out of this once I got back home (this from a girl whose only thought are comfy pjs after long days), I loved it that much! 









I added my blue statement necklace to balance out the deep navy of the skirt. I need to invest in a few bright key pieces for the future. (Just one of the things blogging your outfits teaches you!)  I wore glasses because my eyes were too worn out for lenses. The fact that they go with the colors of the outfit is just a happy coincidence. Overall, a look that I'd definitely try again.

I've finally pulled out my old neon River Island tee (remember when I wore it back here) for a little stroll to a get-together. Here's a sneak peek!

This week has been one of the most stressful ones ever. I had to make tough life decisions, run around the country (literally) and try not to screw all of it up while sleeping for less than two hours a day. Oh, and did I mention, I've finally enrolled in college for masters which means I'l be running around town for the next two years trying to make something of myself! (Must.Not.Panic)

My outfit of choice once I had some time to celebrate breathe was something slightly festive and complete all on its own. This dress/tunic is something I picked up with a crazy shopping spree with my cousin.
