Another post on stripes? Yes please. I think we all know by now that I'm a sucker for stripes. Vertical stripes are very flattering and I think we all know that. Horizontal stripes? Well, I know a lot of women who wouldn't be caught dead in these! And this is exactly why I decided to write about this seemingly taboo print.




I had bought this little dress a couple of years ago and while I haven't gotten much wear out of it, I still thought it was a great piece to show the versatility of a nautical striped dress. I know horizonal is supposed to add more pounds instantly to your physique but its still something you can wear. Well since I'm skinny I sometimes pick such styles intentionally to look a little bulky (yes, you envy me, I've heard that before but I don't exactly have it easy either). I think this dress can be used for work as well as play. Style it with a satchel and heels for work, or wear it with a sling and flats for a nice evening by the beach.



If you're not exactly on the skinny side and want to wear horizontal stripes, I suggest going for thinner stripes. The material should be flowy so that it doesn't at volume to your look. I personally went for a very structured dress but replace this with a flowy kaftan in stripes and you've got your beach look sorted, no matter how un-skinny you are. Believe me, its all about choosing the right cut and fabric for your body!

The temperature has decided to drop down once again in the last two days. Just when we all thought winter was gone for the year, the mercury controllers decided to give us a last little peek into the days gone by. I decided it was the last chance I would get to sport my vintage dress (flicked from mom) that has warm and cozy written all over it! 

I love finding new ways to wear old things in my wardrobe. There's something exhilarating about seeing something you always wear, then seeing it in a whole different light. Its almost like getting a new outfit without shopping! Score! Today's outfit is exactly that. Old wardrobe basic, worn in a classic way using a little imagination.







This dress! Are you wondering why you don't know about it? Well, its my mum's skirt. Its black, midi length, and pleated. This could very well be one of my dream skirts. However, thanks to my recent weight loss, it just didn't fit right and so I decided, hey, no reason to get sad, lets turn it into a dress. One belt and a little pleat adjustment later, Hello LBD!!

During my undergrad years, my wardrobe consisted of mostly dark tones. Greys, blacks and lots of blue. While I still own most of those pieces and tend to veer towards these colors whenever I go shopping, when I saw this scarf, I felt like it was the perfect piece to give my wardrobe that little bit of bright sunshine. Its such a beautiful yellow color that I think it would probably manage to make a bin bag look glam aswell!

I've had a massively crazy week! With tests, conferences, deadlines and presentations, you name it, I've been rushing to do it! Now I'm not one of those lets wear a shirt because its a formal occasion girl. So this got me thinking on what I could wear that would be me and still be acceptable in the college circumstances. As you know I tend to keep it simple (well, unless its accessories!) so this outfit is my take on college dressing which is very travel appropriate(I do spend half my life travelling you know!).








Simple printed top, with tailored trousers. You can add a fitted blazer to make it more 'workwear'. Since the temperature has been hitting the 30s this week, no blazer for me! I know, nothing extraordinary. What can I say, its been a wear classic combinations kinda week!
