3 Ways to Wear : Maxi Dress in Winter

18:08:00

Mumbai and winter? Yes, if you've lived in a city like mine you're probably laughing at me and I hear you! But there's also an equal number of you who live in places that do have more than one season and I thought it would be a fun challenge to create looks for all of you guys who live in cooler cities.

1. Maxi Dress with Polo neck

I'm a huge fan of layering and winter is all about layering. I love warm jumpers and if you've got a very summery maxi dress around, pairing it with a jumper is probably a good idea. The trick is to wear thin enough layers depending on where you are. If you are in a place that's got cooler temperatures, you can always double jumper up (yes that's definitely a thing now) and layering a jumper below and on top too!

2. Maxi Dress with Denim Jacket

Denim jackets are the one thing that will change your wardrobe game. A great layer to keep you warm, especially in a tropical country like India, denim jackets essentially look good with everything! This trick actually works with almost all outfits. Add a denim jacket on top of almost any look and you'll be toasty and still look chic without putting in a whole lot of effort.

3. Maxi Dress with Tights

Okay, so I might have cheated and not actually worn tights for creating this look but you get it yes?  A great way to stay warm and not look very bulky is to add a pair of tights under the dress. If you want to be warmer, thermal vests are also a great way to use your summer clothes and still stay toasty! If you still get cold feed, swap out the ankle boots I'm wearing for knee high boots and I assure you you'll be super cosy but still look chic!

A few tips in creating the overall look. First, boots are a great way to add some warmth to any outfit. I am a huge fan of ankle boots and think that investing in a mid heel shoe is a great investment for winters. A good quality jacket is the second piece that you should invest in because these are functional and fashionable. A denim jacket or a faux leather jacket is definitely something you need to consider adding to your wardrobe. The trick is to invest in key pieces that will last you for several years and stay classic through the years.

I hope this post gave you some tips on how you can utilise those summer maxi dresses and beach dresses into your winter wardrobe. Considering the tropical climate in India, layering helps with making the most of your summer pieces. If you want a closer look at this outfit, don't forget to swing by my Instagram
